Deploying InSync
InSync is compatible with all makes and models of traffic signal cabinets, controllers and detection devices. There’s no need to throw out the equipment you’ve already invested in or to purchase new detection devices, servers or central system software. Simply plug your equipment into InSync, and instantly your controllers and signals are transformed into artificially-intelligent traffic-moving machinery.
We offer a wide range of connection options including our custom Y-cables which make for fast, easy, error-free installation. All InSync components are assembled in the USA under a rigorous Quality Management System (QMS) process that meet or exceed the requirements of ISO9001:2008/AS9100. Contact us for an assessment of the right InSync components for your traffic control equipment.

The processor is the heart of the InSync system. This computer, installed in the traffic signal cabinet at each intersection, holds all the artificial intelligence of the adaptive system. The InSync Processor gathers and calculates detection information from all sources available (such as video cameras, loops and pedestrian intercepts) and then determines the service priority for each approach. The processor places only two calls to the existing traffic controller to actuate signal phases.
As a modern, digital state machine, the processor can choose whichever state will best serve traffic demand. InSync then sends the appropriate call to your controller and the signals adapt to traffic demand immediately.

The Equipment Panel is the power and communications hub of the InSync system at each intersection. It provides a safe, reliable DC power supply and an Ethernet switch, both of which support the InSync Processor and cameras. The Equipment Panel has a number of safety mechanisms including lightning arrestors to protect the networking equipment and a fuse block to protect the power leads to the cameras.
If detection cameras are used, the Equipment Panel also connects to a DIN Relay to ensure that camera power is automatically restarted in the event of a lock-up or power failure. By streamlining communications between the cameras and InSync Processor, the Equipment Panel makes sure InSync has the ability to instantly and quickly process detection data.

CentralSync, the software companion to InSync, is a Windows-based configuration
program. The software enables engineers to easily and quickly create, modify and
deploy traffic management variables and strategies using a map-based interface.
CentralSync’s features include time-space diagram views, editing of progression protocols, geographic mapping of intersections, adjustments to phasing, and viewing and editing
of other configuration settings. Modifications can be uploaded and downloaded
remotely by the operator.

The InSync Web User Interface (WebUI) gives you live, interactive access to the traffic conditions on your InSync corridor. By using any Internet browser–no special software required–you can see camera views of every approach and access the individual InSync Processors and traffic data.
In addition, you can check the status of adaptive operations, see detector calls intercepted by InSync, check communications status and, if ever necessary, place manual calls or turn off adaptive traffic control. Data such as traffic counts, delay and level of service are stored automatically for 30 days.

The DIN Relay cycles power to the cameras, ensuring that a camera recovers if the
network port loses the connection. This prevents overloads, brown-outs, blown breakers
and other power problems before they occur, eliminating the need to be on-site to
reset equipment that has "locked up."

The agency deploying InSync is responsible for purchasing and installing camera mounting hardware.
InSync configurations that use video detection cameras (InSync or InSync:Fusion) need one or more of the following hardware components per approach, depending on intersection conditions:
| Standard Mount | |||
|---|---|---|---|
![]() |
The standard mount typically uses banding to clamp to the horizontal surface of an intersection's mast arm with a gusseted tube extending vertically to a camera bracket that support InSync cameras. The standard mount's gusseted tube and camera bracket is used to support InSync cameras in conjunction with other mounting applications in an effort to keep mounting hardware standardized. | ||

InSync configurations that use a 360° degree monitoring camera (InSync:Tesla) need one panomorphic camera mount per intersection.
Rhythm Engineering offers multiple cables and other connection methods to integrate InSync hardware with existing traffic control equipment.
The following diagrams are examples of the most common component configurations. Other combinations are possible.

Rhythm Engineering warrants that all InSync hardware components will be free of defects in material or workmanship for a period of two (2) years from date of receipt by the buyer. Should any failure to conform to this warranty appear within the warranty period, Rhythm Engineering, upon notification thereof, will, at its option, repair or replace any part(s) found to be defective. No equipment shall be returned during the warranty period without Rhythm Engineering’s consent, which consent will not be unreasonably withheld.
Rhythm Engineering strongly suggests that clients purchase local hardware spares once InSync is in active service, but at least prior to the expiration of the warranty period. Current recommendations are to purchase spares for all primary components at a 10% level (i.e., a purchase of 10 systems or less would spare 1 system, 11-20 spare 2 systems, etc.).
Rhythm Engineering warrants that the recommendations, guidance and performance of its personnel will reflect competent, professional knowledge and judgment. In the event any portion of the services furnished fails to comply with this warranty obligation and Rhythm Engineering is so notified in writing, Rhythm Engineering will promptly re-perform such portion of the service without
additional compensation from buyer.
Rhythm Engineering warrants that all software or firmware furnished will operate as designed under regular uses defined in user manuals for two (2) years from date of receipt of system hardware by the buyer. Should any failure to conform to this warranty appear within the warranty period, Rhythm Engineering, upon notification thereof, will provide and make available for deployment a software remedy for said failure. Rhythm Engineering warrants that it has the right to license the software programs and that, to the best of its knowledge, the license products do not infringe upon the patent rights of any third party and do not infringe upon the copyright or trade secret rights of any third party. Licensee shall promptly make Rhythm Engineering aware of any such claim by a third party.
The buyer will initiate the claim process by calling Rhythm Engineering’s Technical Support at 913.227.0603. The service representative will work with the client remotely to help diagnose and isolate the issue. If the equipment needs to be returned to Rhythm Engineering for a replacement system, the client is responsible for carefully packing and shipping the faulty hardware back to Rhythm’s Service Center, noting the RMA number on the shipping label, as well as on paperwork included inside the box.
In the case of a software/firmware warranty claim, Rhythm Engineering will work with the client remotely to help diagnose and isolate the issue.
If a software/firmware or configuration change is required, the service representative will use best efforts to provide and deploy a solution as soon as possible.
Warranties are exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, whether statutory, express or implied. Remedies provided above are buyer’s sole remedies for any failure by Rhythm Engineering to comply with its warranty obligations.
